Flood Warning in Montgomery Co

March 31--  The Montgomery County Emergency Management Agency is relaying the following flood warning from the National Weather Service.

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN PEACHTREE CITY HAS ISSUED A
* FLOOD WARNING FOR THE OCONEE RIVER NEAR MOUNT VERNON
* FROM SATURDAY MORNING UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE.
* AT 11AM TUESDAY THE STAGE WAS 10.2 FEET AND RISING.
* MINOR FLOODING IS FORECAST.
* FLOOD STAGE IS 16.0 FEET.
* FORECAST TO RISE ABOVE FLOOD STAGE BY SATURDAY MORNING
 AND CONTINUE TO RISE TO NEAR 17.1 FEET BY SUNDAY MORNING. 
ADDITIONAL RISES ARE POSSIBLE THEREAFTER.
* AT 18.0 FEET...MINOR FLOODING CONTINUES. CAMP GROUND AND 
A FEW OUT BUILDINGS BEGIN TO FLOOD SEVERAL MILES SOUTH OF 
MOUNT VERNON. 11 HOMES IN THE CHEROKEE SAND RIDGE 
SUBDIVISION ARE SURROUNDED BY WATER.
A flood warning for the Oconee River near Mt. Vernon has been issued. 
Flood conditions could exist by Saturday morning, April 4th. All persons on or 
near the Oconee  River should monitor the river and local media for additional 
information or check www.montgomerycountyga.gov for updated emergency information.
