Sanchez Drops Civil Case
Monday, 30 March 2009

March 30--  A federal civil suit against the Montgomery County School System, its former superintendent Dale Clark and former school counselor Carrie O'Connor has been withdrawn.

O'Connor was acquitted of criminal charges last year after being accused of having sex with high school student Fabian Pineda.  The boy's mother, Rosa Sanchez, initially filed a civil suit in Montgomery County Superior Court seeking damages of $2 million.  Later her lawyers withdrew the case from state court and filed it in U.S. District Court.

Montgomery County school board attorney Tom Everett says the case was dismissed with prejudice meaning neither Sanchez nor her son can sue the defendants on the issues in the case in the future.

Everett also reports the defendants never offered nor paid any form of settlement in the case.
