Chamber Will Make Good Bad Checks
Tuesday, 24 March 2009

March 24--  People and companies left holding the bag when the firm which ran a gift certificate program for the local chamber of commerce went bankrupt can relax.

The Board of Directors of the Toombs-Montgomery Chamber of Commerce has voted to redeem any outstanding "CertifiChecks."  Chamber officials say the program generated about $200,000 in annual sales for local businesses.

Prior to 2003, the Chamber ran the program in-house.  It was farmed out to an Ohio Company after that and worked well until the company went under.  Now the Chamber plans to restore the program and run it locally.

If you hold any CertifiChecks, you have until April 17th to redeem them at the Chamber.  Details of the reimbursement program are below.

CertifCheck Reimbursement Procedures:

Deadline to submit CertifiChecks for reimbursement – April 17, 2009.

You must submit the original CertifiCheck to be reimbursedd.

Merchants – you must submit the original returned check to be reimbursed.

Merchants – do not accept anymore CertifiChecks – they have not been valid since February 26, 2009. We will not reimburse merchants who have continued to accept CertifiChecks.

Only Toombs-Montgomery Chamber CertifiChecks with the Chamber logo will be reimbursed.

Expired CertifiChecks will not be reimbursed.

Non-Chamber members who have accepted CertifiChecks will not be reimbursed.
