Mrs. Maudie Byrd, Vidalia

Aug 18--Mrs. Maudie Byrd, age 93, of Vidalia, died Sunday, August 17, 2014 in the Community Hospice House in Vidalia after an extended illness.  She was a native of Montgomery County, but lived most of her life in Vidalia.  She was employed at Hazlehurst Manufacturing in Vidalia for many years, and retired from Oxford Industries.  She was a member of the First Assembly of God.  She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Lula Mae McGowan; brother, John McGowan; sister, Virgia Lee Palmer; and grandson, Patrick Sanders.

Mrs. Byrd is survived by two sons, Wilmer Byrd and wife Lindy of Lincolnton, and Larry Byrd and wife Ingrid of Lyons; one daughter, Yvonne B. Henderson of Vidalia; four grandchildren, Carla D. Matthews, Michael Henderson, Todd Douglas Turner, and Sylvia Byrd; seven great-grandchildren, one great-great-granddaughter, one niece, one nephew, and a special friend, Jackie Oliver.

The funeral service will be held Tuesday, August 19th at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Reverend David Knight officiating.  Burial will follow in the Ruth’s Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday morning from 9:30 until just prior to the service.

Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home of Vidalia is in charge of arrangements.
