Mr. Hardie Miller, Sr., Lyons

August 14--  Mr. Hardie Miller, Sr., age 76 of Lyons, died Tuesday, August 12, 2014 at his home after a sudden illness.  He was a lifelong resident of Toombs County, served in the Army National Guard, and was Baptist by faith.  He served as fire chief and as a police officer for the City of Vidalia, worked with Zippy Mart  in Vidalia, retired from Reeves Construction Company in Mt. Vernon, and presently worked with Toombs County at the convenience Center in the Ponderosa Community.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Sadie Miller in June 2014; and parents, Eddie and Olean Miller.

Mr. Miller is survived by one daughter, Carolyn Miller Gomez and husband Marshall of Vidalia; one son, Hardie “Buddy” Miller Jr. and wife Joyce of Swainsboro; two sisters-in-law, Diane Knight and Wilma Scott; two brothers-in-law, Elton James Jackson and wife Patsy, and Alva Jackson and wife Bernice all of Vidalia; five grandchildren, Byron, Tammy, Haley, Randy, and Jeffery; four great-grandchildren, Blake, Hayden, Jaycee, and Abbey; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held Saturday, August 16th at 3:00 pm in the Cedar Crossing Baptist Church with Pastor Reece Mincey officiating.  Burial will follow in the Sharpe’s Cemetery near Alston.

The family will receive friends at the Cedar Crossing Baptist Church on Saturday afternoon from 1:00 until just prior to the service.

Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home of Vidalia was in charge of arrangements.
