July 31--Mr. Veda Dent, age 86, of Vidalia, died Tuesday, July 29, 2014 in the Bethany Nursing Center in Vidalia after an extended illness.  He was a native of Wrightsville, and was a 1944 graduate of Lyons High School.  After his military service for three years in the Army, he moved to Miami, Florida, and after forty years of custom mill work with various companies, he retired in 1993 from Wingate Mill Works. He moved back to Toombs County and was a member of the Lyons Holiness Church.  He was a former member of the West Miami Church of God, serving in numerous capacities, including, usher, Lay Evangelism, missions work, groundskeeper, and a nursing home ministry.  He was preceded in death by his wife of fifty-six years, Suzanne Jackson Dent; parents, Glenn and Irene Vanlandingham Dent; and sister, Rema Dunagan.

Mr. Dent is survived by two daughters, Coleen S. Jones and her husband Jim of Orlando, Florida, and Janice R. Hindle and her husband Tobin of Boca Raton, Florida, one son, Glenn M. Dent and his wife Wanda of Cleveland, Tennessee; two brothers, Keith Dent and wife Naomi of Vidalia, and Charles Dent and wife Julia of Macon; three sisters, Edna Dees of Lyons, Opal Lassiter of Macon, and Elsie Clark of Vidalia; three grandchildren, Jimmy Jones and wife Amanda of Orlando, Christen Hindle of Boca Raton, and Tucker Hindle of Boca Raton; three great-grandchildren, Madelyn Jones, Chloe Jones, and Isabella Jones; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held Saturday, August 2nd at 4:00 p.m. in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Reverend Henry Dowd and Reverend Archie Morgan officiating. Burial will follow in the North Thompson Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday afternoon from 2:30 until just prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Church of God World Missions, P.O. Box 8016, Cleveland Tennessee 37320.
