July 24-- Mr. Bob Durden, age 82, of Lyons, died Wednesday, July 23, 2014, at his home after a sudden illness. 

He was a native of Treutlen County and moved to Lyons in 1961.  He retired from Amercord in Hazlehurst, and was a longtime farmer.  He was a member of the Vidalia Old Line Primitive Baptist Church and was preceded in death by his wife Pearl Durden in 1995; his parents, Tolie and Catherine Beasley Durden; and a brother, Charles Durden. 

Mr. Durden is survived by two sons, Ken Durden and his wife Gail, and Curtis Durden and his wife Betty all of Lyons; one brother, Tony Durden of Eatonton; one sister, Ruth Tew and her husband Tommy, also of Eatonton; six grandchildren, Reverend. Brian Durden, Jason Durden, Nicky Redding, Jennifer Moseley, Brandon Durden, and Kaley Durden; seven great-grandchildren, and a special and dear friend, Virginia Hobbs. 

The funeral service will be held Saturday, July 26th at 11:00 a.m. at the Vidalia Old Line Primitive Baptist Church, 705 Vann Street, with Elder Joe Nettles and Elder Michael Meek officiating.  Burial will follow in the Lyons City Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday evening from 6:00 to 8:00.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Vidalia Old Line Primitive Baptist Church, c/o Roy Stewart, PO Box 866, Lyons, GA 30436.

Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home of Vidalia is in charge of arrangements.
