July 22-- Robert Toombs Christian Academy won the 2014 GISA Class A Excellence Award in athletics. The award is based on a points system set by the GISA. Points are earned on how well you finished the past year in each sport compared to other schools in the state in the same classification.

“ Our coaches and kids did a great job starting back in the summer of last year. They worked really hard and deserve this award. We were State Champions in football and in boy’s track. We were runner up in girl’s track and dual wrestling. We made it to the Final Four in baseball and girl’s basketball and made it to the Elite 8 in softball and boy’s basketball. The school has won this award for the second year in a row and five out of the last ten years. We are going to push forward and try to win the award this year in Class AA.” Athletic Director Hayne Brant said.

“ Coach Thomas Smith won the Coach of the Year Award in football and Coach Jake Wilkinson won the Coach of the Year Award in track for this past year. Those coaches really put the effort in to do what it takes to win the award and we are really proud of their accomplishments.” Brant stated.
