The Toombs Co Bulldogs Football team hosted the Shorter College Football Camp Thursday at the Pit in Lyons. Five other area teams took part in the camp combine to let college coaches come in and evaluate local talent and then work on the fundamentals of the option offense.

“ We had Richmond Hill, Claxton, ECI, Wheeler Co, Montgomery Co and us at the camp. Shorter College is a great Division 2 school that recently came over from the NAIA. We have some great Division 2 programs in the state like West Georgia and Albany State. The majority of our kids are Division 2 and 3 type level players and this is a great way for those college coaches to come in and evaluate our kids.” Toombs Co Head Coach L.M. Guy said.

Coach Guy stated, “We have been real busy this summer and we need that. We need to go into this upcoming season looking like a second year program instead of a first year program. We have been to camps at Georgia, Auburn and we throw every Tuesday night at home. We have other camps coming up including our mandatory conditioning camp at home and then we will be in pads on August 1st.”

“ We are real pleased with the overall performance of our kids with all the time and effort they are putting into things, but we still have a long way to go.” Coach Guy said.
