VHS 7 On 7 Camp
Tuesday, 15 July 2014

July 15—The VHS Indians Football team held the 5th annual 7 on 7 Camp this past Thursday and Friday with sixteen teams and over 400 participants. A guest speaker spoke each day during the lunch breaks at the First Baptist Church in Vidalia. Doug Roper, a former Vidalia Indian standout, spoke Thursday on behalf of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.

“ I am blessed for the opportunity to speak to these kids on something I should have done when I was a player and that is make a better stand for Christ. What is most important to these kids is that they have a relationship with Christ and anytime that they can hear a message to help do that, that is more important than football and sports.” Roper said.

“ I think the way that Coach Chomskis and the people run the camp it has been really beneficial to us, not from just a football standpoint but a spiritual one. It has given our kids an opportunity to hear a message from a great speaker and we have really enjoyed it every year.” Head Coach Mike West of the Metter Tigers said.

“ We have been supporting this camp for the last four or five years. We are big supporters of student athletes and this is a great way for us to give back to the community and be a part of something that is beneficial to all the kids in the area that participate in the camp.” John Tyson of Ameris Bank stated.
