Fire Safety Class Pays Off
Monday, 14 July 2014

ImageJuly 14--  During this past school year Kylin Miller attended a Fire and Life Safety Class at her school that was taught by the Toombs County Fire Department.  The class taught her the importance of staying calm during emergencies, how to call 911, and how to go to a safe meeting place outside of the house.

On June 29th, Kylin got to put her training to good use when a kitchen fire occurred at her grandmother’s house.  Kylin discovered the fire, then calmly got her grandmother and herself out of the house and into a safe place in the front yard until the fire department could arrive.  Kylin did great job by implementing what she had learned to keep herself and her grandmother safe.

During a recent fire department meeting, Kylin was recognized with an Official Junior Fire Fighter Certificate and Junior Fire Fighter Badge for her performance of heroism.  Kylin is the daughter of Sheldon and Casey Peterson and granddaughter of Mrs. Linda Peterson.
