Child Dies in Toombs County Wreck - Updated

July 13--  The Georgia State Patrol is still investigating a wreck that occurred between 6:30 and 7:00 PM on Saturday, July 12th on Four Acre Road in southern Toombs County that resulted in the death of a 5 year old child.

A 14 year old male was at the wheel of a pickup truck with another 14 year old male passenger in the front of the pickup when it struck a tree while traveling southbound on Four Acre Road just off Highway 1 in south Toombs County. 

Riding in the bed of the pickup were 4 children ranging in ages from 3 to 10 years old.  The 5 year old was ejected from the pickup during the wreck and was rushed to the hospital but later pronounced dead.  The remaining 5 children occupying the vehicle were also injured and charges are pending upon completion of the investigation.
