July 8--  Voters have about ten more days to vote in advance for the primary runoff electiions in the state.

Toombs County Elections Supervisor Cary Alligood says there's been a steady stream of voters at her office in Lyons.  Although only 94 citizens have voted in advance so far, she says that more than normal for a summertime runoff.

Advance voting closes Friday, July 18 for the runoff election on Tuesday, July 22.

Runoff elections on the ballot include the Republican runoff for the U.S. Senate seat now held by Senator Saxby Chambliss. Candidates are Georgia Congressman Jack Kingston of Savannah and St. Simons businessman David Perdue.

There are also runoffs for State School Superintendent. The Republican runoff pits Mike Buck against Richard Woods. The Democrat runoff is between Alisha Morgan and Valerie Wilson.

The following is a cumulative summary of statewide advance in-person voting and vote-by-mail turnout as of today:

GENERAL STATEWIDE TURNOUT

Number of ballots cast: 44,342

Number of ballots voted in person:  28,000

Number of mail-in ballots returned:  16,342

Number of mail-in ballots outstanding:  18,345

TOP 5 COUNTIES WITH HIGHEST TURNOUT

Cobb: 2,439

DeKalb:2,401

Fulton: 1,706

Chatham: 1,705

Gwinnett: 1,687
