Mrs. Loyce Thompson Poole, Lyons

June 18--Mrs. Loyce Thompson Poole, age 91, of Lyons, died Tuesday, June 17, 2014 in the Community Hospice House in Vidalia after an extended illness.  She was a native of Lyons, and a 1939 graduate of Lyons High School.  She lived in Macon for twenty-six years, was a legal secretary for attorneys Sell and Melton in Macon, where she retired, and moved back to Lyons in 1988.  She was a lifetime member of Beta Sigma Phi, and was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Lyons and her Sunday school class.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Poole; parents, Johnny and Eunice Higgs Thompson; and brother, Wade Thompson.

Mrs. Poole is survived by two daughters, Elaine Fallen Graham of Bluffton, South Carolina, and Dianne Fallen Avret of Lyons; five grandchildren, Michelle Graham Crozier and husband Kevin of Bluffton, Gray Thompson Graham and wife Jennifer of Vidalia, Clint Avret and wife Phaedra of Jacksonville, Florida, Chad Avret and wife Alana of Statesboro, and Christy Avret Strickland of Statesboro, eleven great-grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. 

The funeral service will be held Friday, June 20th at 11:00 a.m. in the First Baptist Church of Lyons with Reverend Dannie Williams officiating.  Burial will follow in the South Thompson Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the First Baptist Church on Friday from 10:00 until just prior to the service.
