June 12--Mr. Neal Blocker, age 72, of Lyons, died Wednesday, June 11, 2014 at his home after an extended.  He was born in Winter Park, Florida, and his family moved to Glennville when he was a child.  After graduating from Glennville High School in 1960, he joined the U.S. Navy where he served four years, and has lived in Toombs County since 1965.  He retired after thirty-two years from Georgia Natural Gas, was a member of VFW Post 3563, Vidalia-Lyons Moose Lodge 1281, and was Baptist by faith.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Waldo and Louise Waters Blocker; and a brother, Everette Blocker.

Mr. Blocker is survived by his wife of forty-seven years, Patricia Blocker of Lyons; one daughter, Tonya Blocker and Michael Hayes of Vidalia; one brother, Loy Blocker and wife Bonnie of Glennville; three sisters, Cathy Leubner and husband George of West Lake, Louisiana, Coy Holiday and husband Eddie of Glennville, and Donna Edes and husband Craig of Lake Charles, Louisiana, and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held Saturday, June 14th at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Reverend Roy Woods officiating.  Burial will follow in Lakeview Memorial Gardens with Military Honors.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday morning from 10:00 until just prior to the service.
