June 3--  More than 50 citizens showed up at Lyons city hall to help the Lyons Mainstreet board of directors chart a course for the future.

That's important because, as Lyons Mainstreet Director Alexa Britton says, "We wanted to hear what the community had to say.  If the Mainstreet board and organization is not moving in the direction that the community wants, then we need to change our focus."

A diverse group including private citizens, business people and elected officials spent three hours developing recommendations to improve Lyons.

"We want downtown to look better.  We want it to function better for businesses and property owners and for people who want to participate in community events.  It will all work together to give us a good plan for the community," Britton said.
