Judge Upholds State "Stand Your Ground" Law
Thursday, 15 May 2014

May 15--  A Vidalia attorney has successfully used Georgia's "Stand Your Ground" law to get his client's murder charge dismissed.

Lawyer Mitch Shook argued that 47-year-old Jerry Steve Sutton was justified under the law when he shot and killed his brother-in-law, William Anderson, last July at the home of Sutton's mother in Glenwood.

Judge Sarah Wall considered the motion at a hearing in Wheeler County Superior Court and agreed to dismiss the charges against Sutton.
