February 23--  Fourth and fifth graders at Sally Meadows Elementary School came to school Monday morning to find their classrooms had all been moved over the weekend.

Phase One of a $10 million dollar school construction project was completed ahead of schedule by McDonald Construction Company and included 18 classrooms, a media center and administrative offices.  Teachers and volunteers worked over the weekend to be ready for students Monday.

Debbie Baskin is a fifth grade math teacher.  "I think it's lovely.  The children are going to enjoy learning here.  It's very conducive to learning.  The walls are bright, the rooms are clean, we have more space and storage, so I think it's going to work out great.  The set-up of it is beautiful, it is well designed," she said.

School officials say Phase Two of the project will be demolition and reconstruction of the old fourth and fifth room classrooms and construction of a new cafeteria followed by renovation of the wing which now houses the third grade.

When completed the school will include the second through the fifth grades.
