Mr. Robert Palmer, Soperton

Apr 27-- Mr. Robert Palmer, age 87, of Soperton died Saturday, April 26, 2014.

Mr. Palmer was a lifelong resident of Treutlen County and was preceded in death by his parents, George W. and Lula Tapley Palmer; brothers, Ovid Palmer and Huey Palmer, and sister, Nina Boyd.  He was a US Army Veteran of World War II and was a member of Harmony Masonic Lodge, American Legion, and VFW post 10925.  He was retired from Union Camp Corporation and Gillis Ag and Timber. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Soperton, the R. A. Perry Sunday School Class, and attended Red Bluff Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife of sixty-three years, Betty Ruth Horton Palmer; son and daughter-in-law, Scotty  and Janet Palmer of Lavonia; sisters, Zelma Braswell and Ouida Braddy, both of Macon and Peepsie McLendon of Dublin; and brother, J. B. “Whitt” Palmer of Soperton.

Services will be held in the Chapel of Sammons Funeral Home Monday, April 28 at 11 a.m. with Reverend Donny Crosby officiating.  Burial will be in Westview Cemetery, Soperton.

Visitation will be held at the funeral home one hour before services.
