Apr 28-- Mrs. Inez “Akins” Davis, age 79 of Vidalia, died Saturday, April 26, 2014 at Meadows Regional Medical Center after an extended illness.  She was a native of Portal and lived most of her life in Tucson, Arizona before moving to Toombs County in the early 1990’s. She was a homemaker and loved being in the flower garden.  She attended the Faith Assembly of God.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas Eugene and Carolee Akins; her husband, Bill Davis; and her four children, Anthony Andrews, Linda Andrews, Craig Andrews, and Carla Andrews.

Mrs. Davis is survived by one son, Jim Andrews of Tucson, Arizona; two sisters, Mildred Anderson and husband Calvin of Collins, Cleo Jacobs and husband Jerry of Tyrone; one brother, Henry Akins of Lyons; three grandchildren, Nivea, Linda, and Bobby; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held Wednesday, April 30th at 11:00 am in the chapel of the Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Reverend Jim Hightower and Reverend Trent Akins officiating.  Burial will follow in the Lyons City Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday morning from 9:30 until 11:00.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to Sweet Onion Animal Protections Society at P.O. Box 210, Vidalia, Georgia 30475.

Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home of Vidalia is in charge of the arrangements.
