Apr 28-- Mrs. Janice M. Whitfield, age 76, of Vidalia, died Saturday, April 26, 2014 in Community Hospice House in Vidalia after a brief illness.  She was a native of Tate and lived most of her life in Toombs County.  She was employed at People’s Bank for seventeen years before working for Wal-Mart, where she retired as a department supervisor and attended the Alpha Methodist Church in Bloomingdale. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Whitfield; grandson, Brandon Whitfield; parents, Charles and Thelma Martin; and a brother, Reece Martin.

Mrs. Whitfield is survived by two daughters, Julie Miller and husband Reggie of Guyton and Brenda Stephens and husband Kim of Lyons; three sons, Johnny Whitfield and wife Eileen of Lyons, David Whitfield and wife Dorothy Ann of Guyton, and Lee Whitfield and wife Carol of Richmond Hill; seventeen grandchildren, Lynsie Steed, Justin Copeland, Rachel Mammina, Paige Miller, Cheyney Stephens, Martin Stephens, Jessica Stephens, Ashley Whitfield, Cody Whitfield, Corissa Whitfield, Cory Whitfield, Autumn Whitfield, Hannah Whitfield, Kaleigh Jenkins, Ethan Whitfield, Desiree Tucker, and Kristen Tucker, and seven great-grandchildren.

The funeral service will be held Tuesday, April 29th at 2:00 pm in the chapel of the Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Reverend Tom Carruth officiating. Burial will follow in the Galbreath Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:00 until 2:00 on Tuesday afternoon.

The family asks that memorial contributions be made to the Community Hospice Foundation, P.O. Box 2277, Vidalia, GA 30475.
