Onion Festival Chuckwagon Cooks

April 27--  Good food cooked the "old timey" chuckwagon way came to the 37th annual Vidalia Onion Festival Saturday.


The 1st annual Vidalia Onion Festival Chuckwagon Cook-Off attracted cooks from as far away at Greenville, North Carolina.

Local organizer Brian Frederick reported the results.

"Overall winners-3rd Place- Cow Camp from Parrot, Ga; 2nd Place-Skillet & Spurs from Vidalia, Ga; 1st Place-Ramblin Rose from Greenville, NC.   

"Our local team, Skillet & Spurs (headed by Cindy and Troy Reddick), won 3rd place in the Meat category, 1st in Bread, 1st in Potatoes, 1st in Wagon and 2nd in Overall points. 

"We had 5 wagons competing; Cow Camp from Parrot, Ga; Skillet & Spurs from Vidalia, Ga; Double X Ranch from Hampton, Ga; Greenhorn Cattle Company from Ranger, Ga; and Ramblin Rose from Greenville, NC.  

"For the first time having this event for the Onion Festival, I think our attendance and participation was very good."
