Vidalia High School senior basketball player Ramel Thompkins has signed a letter of intent to play basketball at the University of South Carolina Upstate in Spartanburg, SC. The Spartans are members of the Atlantic Sun Conference in Division One. Thompkins has been a key member of the Indians success over the last three seasons.

" When I went to visit, they made me feel like I was already a member of the family. I didn't have that feeling anywhere else that I visited. It feels good to know where I am going to play and it takes a lot of weight off of my shoulders. Vidalia is the best team I have ever played for and I hope we can keep in touch with each other. They are like my brothers." Thompkins said.

" He has worked very hard and we are so proud of him. He knew what he wanted and made it happen. We are so glad to see him get this opportunity to play at the next level." Mother Regina Williams said.

" He has meant so much to our team over the years and to see him grow and get to this point is great. His work ethic is incredible and he had a great four years. There is probably not a better kid walking the halls here at Vidalia. He is just a different breed and he has been a great role model for everyone around him." VHS Head Coach Tommy Dalley said.
