VHS Competes At Region 2AA Track and Field Meet

April 16--The Vidalia High School Boys and Girls Track teams are competing in the 2AA Track and Field Region Championship which is being hosted at the Georgia Southern University Track and Field Complex.  On Monday April 14th, all region schools participated in the field event finals and the running event preliminaries.  The results of the boys and girls field event finals are as follows: 

BOYS

DISCUS:  Devin Johnson 4th

SHOT PUT:  Devin Johnson 7th,  Ivey Kennedy 9th

LONG JUMP: Tra Hardy 1st (Region Champ) Marquevous Harris 3rd

TRIPLE JUMP:  Quantarius Jones 2nd, Robert Petty 7th

HIGH JUMP:  Terry Jones 1st (Region Champ) Ramel Thompkins 2nd

3200 METER RUN:  Tyler Campbell 3rd, Nathan McLeod 7th

After scoring the above events, the boys are in 1st place with 71 points followed by Bryan County and Jeff Davis both with 50 points.  In the qualifying running events held on Monday, the boys qualified to run in 9 of the 9 final running events to be held on Wednesday, April 16th. 

GIRLS

DISCUS:  Lukia Howard 7th , Kardejah Anderson 8th

SHOT PUT:  Kardejah Anderson 3rd, China Hodge 6th

LONG JUMP:  Kourtney Owens 2nd

TRIPLE JUMP:  Kourtney Owens 1st (Region Champ) Destiny McRae 3rd

HIGH JUMP: Reagan Norfleet 6th tied

1600 METER RUN:  Hope McCullough 6th, Abbie Chesser 9th

After scoring the above events, the girls are in 2nd place in the region with 39 points behind Jeff Davis.

In the qualifying running events held on Monday, the girls qualified to run in 6 of the 9 final running events to be held on Wednesday, April 16th. 

The boys and girls running finals will begin at 12:00 on Wednesday, April 16th at the Georgia Southern Track and Field Complex.  The meet will conclude with the awarding of the Region Trophies.  The top four finishers in both the field and running events will then advance to the Southern Sectionals to be held at Lamar County on Saturday, April 26th.
