Apr 8--  Mr. James Earl Cleghorn, age 66, of Vidalia, died Monday, April 7, 2014 in the Meadows Regional Medical Center in Vidalia after an extended illness.  He was born in Sandersville, lived in several places in Georgia, including Cobbtown, and has lived in Vidalia since 1965.  He was employed at the former Stephens Pontiac in Vidalia for many years, and a salesman for Jiffy Jig in Vidalia for twenty years.  He was a U.S. Army veteran of Vietnam, and was twice recipient of the Purple Heart.  He was Pentecostal by faith and was preceded in death by his father, Reverend Joe Cleghorn; and a sister, Joyce Hill.

Mr. Cleghorn is survived by one son, James Cleghorn, Jr.; one daughter, Brandy “Prissy” Berrier and husband Kyle of all Jacksonville, Florida; mother, Mizzie Cleghorn Brown of Summerville; one brother, Randy Cleghorn and wife Tina of Chatsworth; three sisters, Edna Edenfield of Summerville, Elsie Earnest and husband “Dockie” of Brinson, and Linda Brumfield and husband Jerry of Cumming; four grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held Wednesday, April 9th at 1:00 p.m. in the Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Glennville with Pastor Danny Zorn officiating.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 6:00 until 8:00.
