Mr. Dale Cox, Sr., Lyons

April 4-- Mr. Dale W. Cox, Sr., age 56 of Lyons, died Wednesday, April 2, 2014 in the Veteran’s Administration Hospice Community Center in Augusta after a brief illness. 

He was a native of Jacksonville, Florida, and lived there until moving to Toombs County in 1986.  He was a U.S. Army veteran and was stationed at Ft. Hood, Texas and Nuremburg, Germany.  He was the canning plant manager at the Georgia Correctional Institute in Reidsville, and was Church of God by faith. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Wilton Cox and Evelyn Anderson Cox; and an infant sister, Marlene Cox.

Mr. Cox is survived by three children, Mona Cox Adams and husband Win, formerly of Toombs County, and presently of Augusta, Kimberly Cox Byers and husband Johnny, and Dale W. Cox, Jr. all of Rutherfordton, North Carolina; two sisters, Charlene Cox and husband Daniel of the New Branch Community, and Darlene Cox Kennedy and husband Robert of Jacksonville; one brother, Gerald Vaden Cox and wife Connie of Jacksonville; two grandchildren, Charlee Adams and Nevaeh Cox; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The funeral service will be held Saturday, April 5th at 11:00 a.m. in the Edmond Chapel Church of God with Jessie Todd and Reverend Wayne Swanson officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday evening from 6:00 until 8:00.
