Darrie Stephens, a member of the Brewton-Parker College Men’s Basketball Program for the past four seasons, was named to the 2014 National Association for Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) All-Star Team. He competed as part of the Division 1 team in the first annual NAIA All-Star Game, which featured some of the best players in the country from the NAIA Divisions. The game took place at Municipal Auditorium in Kansa City, MO on March 22, 2014 as an event in the quarterfinal action of the NAIA National Tournament.

The Division 1 team won the All-Star Game on Saturday evening with a score of 120 to 107.  Stephens was one of six players to score in the double figures. He finished the evening with 12 points, three rebounds and one steal.  This is another exciting accomplishment for Stephens, adding to his list of achievements at Brewton-Parker.

Over his career, Stephens has been selected as a multiple conference Player of the Week, and named First-Team All-Conference the past two seasons. He surpassed the 1000 point scoring mark during his junior year. For his career, he averaged 14.2ppg and 6.8rpg while shooting 54% from the field, totaling 1,496 points and 712 rebounds. Stephens has a personal record of 39 points scored in a single game, and an impressive single game high of 21 rebounds. As a senior this past season, Stephens was second in the conference in scoring at 20 points per game and fifth in the conference in rebounding with 7.8 rebounds per game.

Coach Smith said, “Darrie Stephens has played a vital role, on and off the court, in continuing to build the Brewton-Parker Men’s Basketball Program, and will be missed following his graduation in May.”
