March 27--  A Lyons businesswoman is the 2014 Citizen of the Year.

At the annual celebration hosted by the Lyons Merchants Association, they had to get Kathy Mann out of the kitchen at her restaurant, Chatters, in order to make the presentation.

Last year's honoree, Sabrina Campbell, made the presentation and reminded everyone of how this year's recipient works quiety to help people in Lyons.

"No one will ever know the span of her generosity and all she's done behind the scenes to provide clothing, gifts and money to those in need," Campbell said.

"I enjoy doing things for people because that's what God wants us to do.  He wants us to share and love everybody and that's why I try to do," Kathy Mann said.  She also expressed thanks for the award.

"This means a lot to me.  I really appreciate it.  I didn't think I was that important to so many people and I appreciate it very much."

Johnny Jones, President of the Lyons Merchants Association, says Kathy Mann is a great example for others to follow.

"We want to promote the people in our community and let others see those working for the community and just helping, folks who've got a heart and get out and help someone, he said.
