Toombs County Grand Jury Indictments

March 19-- A Vidalia man whose vehicle struck and killed a pedesterian last summer was allegedly driving under the influence of prescription drugs.

A Toombs County grand jury indicted Ronald Brandon Waters for vehicular homicide in the death of 50-year-old Elizabeth Hopkins.  She was killed while walking along Highway 292 near Broadfoot Boulevard the night of July 27.

The grand jury indicted 17-year-old Jonathan Reyes of Lyons for calling in a bomb threat which disrupted the schools in the Toombs County school system on February 6, 2013. Superior Court Judge Bobby Reeves issued a bench warrant for the arrest of Reyes a day after the indictment was handed down.

Three young Vidalia men are facing a burglary indictment for the breakin last July at Lee Discount Company in downtown Vidalia.  Police say Leartis Daniels, Jr., Khalil Harris and Dominque Henderson used some of the cash they stole to buy three cars the day after the burglary.

Five others indicted in connection with other burglaries are Joseph Brewer, Raymond Littles, Nathan Ward, Jamie Williams and Justin Woods.

Three men indicted for the armed robbery of a Pizza Inn delivery woman in January are Eric Elder, Danel Longtin and Seth White.

A mother accused of reckless driving, Melissa Ann Amburn, was indicted on two counts of serious injury by vehicle and cruelty to children after a wreck in which both her daughters suffered broken legs.

Indictments for aggravated assault were returned against Jamie Thompson and David Jackson while Joseph Phillips, Jr. was indicted for aggravated battery, Michael Walden for Aggravated Stalking and Eric Jones for battery and kidnapping.

Twelve people indicted on drug-related charges are Dayvell Spikes, Wylene Cooper, James Braddock, Frank Blanding, Deborah Brooker, Deonte and Eric Canty, Derrick Johnson, Jr., Chance Mayner, George Tillman, III., Lawanda Singleton and Thomas Lawson.

Theft by taking indictments were returned against Alfreddie Mobley, Jr., and Daniel Morado; Timothy Lenard Smith was indicted for shoplifting; Ramon Hampton, Jr., and Tim Strickland, Jr. were indicted for entering an automobile.

Four inmates at the Toombs County jail were indicted for rioting in a penal institution.  They are Lorenzo Bennett, Tyquan Calloway, Kevin Lovett and Raymond Littles.
