March 12--  The Vidalia City Council and Board of Education held their March meetings this week.

After much discussion, the city council agreed to the sale of beer and wine by the Onion Festival Committee at the street dance concert by the Temptations in the new amphitheater park now under construction in downtown Vidalia.

It  took no action on a noise complaint by the Jackson Heights Neighborhood Association regarding an exhaust fan in the Steeplechase restaurant.  Officials said the noise was within the limits prescribed by city law.

The council agreed to a nearly $25,000 road striping contract and okayed capital projects of $217,000.

The Vidalia school board awarded a school bus insurance contract of $17,662 to Zorn and Son Insurance of Vidalia.  The new policy with Auto Owners Insurance replaces State Farm which has quit insuring school buses in Georgia.

The school board also renewed the contracts of the system's school principals for next school term.
