Mrs. Ellen Meeks Culpepper- Lyons

March 4---Mrs. Ellen Meeks Culpepper, 81, of Lyons, died Tuesday, March 4, 2014 in the Community Hospice House of Vidalia after a short illness.  She lived most of her life in Lyons and retired after thirty seven years from the Toombs County School System. She was a loving mother and grandmother, an avid gardener, a graduate of Vidalia High School, and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Lyons.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Warren Culpepper; her parents, Theo and Valera Meeks; a brother, Hugh Meeks, and a sister, Rebecca Meeks.  

Mrs. Culpepper is survived by five daughters, Renee Culpepper, Sabrina Campbell and husband Dave of Lyons, Stephanie Braddy of Vidalia, Pam Anderson and husband Ronny of Statesboro, and Sonya Cooler and husband Jerry of Ridgeland, South Carolina; one brother, Terry Meeks of Lyons; two sisters, Hazel Wynn of Lyons, and Betty Riner of Vidalia; sister-in-law, Peggy Sharpe of Lyons; grandchildren Cari Campbell Crews and Courtney Campbell of Lyons, Mallory and Morgan Jordan of Vidalia, Jason Tootle of Chesapeake, Virginia, and Heather Tootle of Statesboro, six great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held on Thursday, March 6th  at 4:00 p.m. in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Reverend Lee Pulliam and Elder Ric Stewart officiating.  Burial will follow in the Lyons City Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 2:00 until 4:00.
