February 24--  The annual Student Teacher Achievement Recognition (STAR) program honored top students and their teachers from four area high schools Monday night at Robert Toombs Christian Academy in Lyons.

STAR students are (L-R) Matthew Carter, Toombs County High School; Taylor Robins, Vidalia Comprehensive High School; Ben Wilkes, Montgomery County High School; and Sarah Payne, Robert Toombs Christian Academy.  Standing behind them are their STAR teachers (L-R) Kip Hart, Sandra Calloway, Janeth Coleman and Ann Smith.

The STAR competition is sponsored locally by the Vidalia Kiwanis Club and statewide by the Professional Association of Georgia Educators and the Georgia Department of Education.

Monday night's program was made possible by contributions from Altamaha Bank and Trust, Community Hospice, Vidalia Federal Savings Bank, Vidalia Kiwanis Club and the Vidalia Rotary Club.
