Out of Court Settlement Sought in Stanley Suit
Wednesday, 19 February 2014

February 19--  A lawsuit against Stanley Farms in Toombs County may be settled out of court.

The federal lawsuit was filed last April against the Vidalia Onion grower claiming violation of the Fair Labor Standards Act.

Twenty farmworkers claimed U.S. workers were paid less than minimum wage and less than foreign workers.

Attorneys for Stanley Farms and Georgia Legal Services in Atlanta, representing the workers, filed a joint motion Wednesday in U.S. District Court requesting a 60-day stay in the proceedings.

The motion said both parties have agreed to try and resolve the claims in the case out of court.
