Mr. Billy Peek, Vidalia

January 26-- Mr. Billy Peek, age 82, of Vidalia, died Saturday, January 25, 2014 at his home.  He moved to Vidalia in 1946, was a 1948 graduate of Vidalia High School, and served four years in the U.S. Navy. 

He earned a Bachelor’s Degree in economics and mathematics from Guilford College in Greensboro, North Carolina.  He worked in the textile industry for more than thirty years, and retired in 1992.  He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Vidalia, the Men’s Bible Class and taught Sunday school.  He was an avid hunter, gardener and fisherman.  He was preceded in death by a daughter, Ann Peek Manuel; parents, William Oscar Peek and Ruby Ann Williams Peek; and two brothers, Bobby and Joseph Peek.

Mr. Peek is survived by his wife of sixty-one years, Peggy Shuman Peek of Vidalia; daughter, Jeanie Ford and husband Tom of Raleigh, North Carolina; son, Michael Peek and wife Avis of Vidalia; son-in-law, Keith Manuel of Kernersville, North Carolina; sister, Barbara Quillman of Augusta; brother, Don Peek and wife Linda of Wasilla, Alaska; nine grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

The memorial service will be held Monday, January 27th at 2:00 pm in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Reverend Bucky Kennedy and Reverend Don Moye officiating. 

The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Men’s Bible Class, P.O. Box 631, Vidalia GA 30475 or the Community Hospice Foundation, P.O. Box 2277, Vidalia GA 30475.

Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home of Vidalia is in charge of arrangements.
