Monday, 06 January 2014

January 6--  A cold wave is moving into South Georgia, but the low temperatures will not stop the re-opening of the Vidalia City School System and schools in Treutlen CountyTuesday after the holiday break.

School Superintendent Dr. Garrett Wilcox issued the following statement this morning.

"Happy New Year! Barring any sudden change in the weather, Vidalia City Schools will re-open at regular times tomorrow, January 7, 2014.

"Temperatures are expected to be extremely low, but our schools will be warm. Students riding buses are advised to wear multiple layers of clothing and when possible; stay inside until the bus is arriving at your stop.

"Parents dropping students off at school are advised to keep students in the car until school personnel are visible and have unlocked the doors.

Welcome back!!"

Treutlen County School Superintendent Dr. Cheryl Conley also informs us that schools will re-open as scheduled Tuesday morning in Treutlen County.
