New Jobs in Treutlen County
Tuesday, 07 January 2014

January 7--  There's some good economic news to start the new year in Treutlen County.

John Lee with the Treutlen County Development Authority says, "The company is Florida Hardware.  They will manufacture gates and all types of agricultural equipment here in Soperton.  The Development Authority had purchased an abandoned factory several years ago and they found out about it and approached us and we were glad to lease it to them."

The facility is located on Highway 221 South in Soperton and will start out with six employees and expand to 25 in the next few months, according to Lee.

He says the company had been operating in East Dublin before moving to Soperton.

Meanwhile, the Toombs County Development Authority reports the county's newest manufacturer has far exceeded investment and employment projections.

According to the Development Authority's Michelle Johnson, "U.S. Pet has invested approximately $67.7 million in their Toombs County facility and a total of 215 fulltime employees and 79 temporary employees have been hired as of the end of 2013.

"When they received their initial OneGeorgia award, they pledged a $25 million investment and 150 jobs.  They had until 2014 to meet those goals and they have already exceeded them by far."

U.S. Pet in located in the Toombs Industrial Park on U.S. Highway One north of Lyons where the Development Authority is constructing another building in 2014 to attract additional employers to Toombs County.
