Mr. Cliff Wilder, Vidalia

January 2-- Mr. Cliff Wilder, age 60, of Vidalia, died Tuesday, December 31, 2013 at his home after a sudden illness. 

He was a native of Toombs County and in 1969 was the starting nose tackle for the Vidalia High School Indian State Championship Team and graduated from there in 1971. 

He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and served four years.  He was the store manager for the former Curtis Mathis in Vidalia for many years, and presently worked at Tractor Supply since it was established in Vidalia.  He was always kind to others, and was a devoted father, grandfather, and son.  He was preceded in death by father, Jerry Wilder; step-father, Hugh Larry Salter; brother, Hugh Salter.

Mr. Wilder is survived by two sons, Benjamin Wilder and fiancé Stephanie of Dublin and Bill Wilder of Lyons; mother, Dollie Salter of Vidalia; one brother, Stevie Salter of Vidalia; three sisters, Suzie Braddy and husband Danny of Johnson Corner, Dollette Groover and husband Walter of Vidalia and Suzette Adams of Augusta; four grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held Friday, January 3rd at 3:00 pm in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Reverend Bill Black officiating.  Burial will follow later in the Findley Cemetery near Oak Park.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday afternoon from 1:00 until just prior to the service.
