Job Fair Set for Hazlehurst

December 20-- Job seekers in east central Georgia will have a unique opportunity to participate in a number of workshops aimed at assisting them in their search for employment, and apply for various open positions during a job readiness and employer hiring event hosted by the Georgia Department of Labor (GDOL) Tuesday and Wednesday, Jan. 14-15, in Hazelhurst.

The GDOL’s Special Workforce Assistance Team (SWAT) will offer six different informational sessions both days from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. at Jeff Davis Middle School Yellow Jacket Gymnasium, 93 Collins Drive in Hazelhurst. Job Readiness workshops include, “Marketing Yourself Using Social Media,” “Interviewing Skills,”  “Job Search,” “Creating a Value-based Résumé,” “Effective Employment Applications” and “How to Succeed at a Career Expo.”

Attendees can also receive hands-on assistance in developing their own social media pages, creating personal business cards for their job search, and developing their own 30-second “commercial” to market themselves for new career opportunities.  Résumé reviews will also be available.

Job seekers will also have the opportunity to file applications on site for over 250 positions with 10 different job titles for a local company. The job titles are all shift work positions: human resources manager, material manager, hourly supervisors, material mixers, warehouse workers, machine operator, process techs, hourly production workers, production managers, and injection mold repairer technician.
