December 10—Image The Toombs Co High School Wrestling team is off to a great start this season with a 2nd place and 1st place finishes this year. The Bulldogs won the Jeff Davis Yellow Jackets Duals Tournament Saturday defeating Ware Co 42-33 in the championship round.

“ I have been very proud of our team so far this year. We have done a great job at foucusing on our opportunities each week. We had the chance to see a lot of the teams in our area and compete against them in matches and this can help us later on at the state tournaments. We came out and wrestled with a ton of heart and passion and I could’nt have been more proud of how we finished.” Coach Bradley Benton said.

Coach Benton is a formerToombs Co Bulldog wrestler and two-time state champion.

“ I am so proud of what this program has become over the last 10 to 15 years. I attribute that to Coach Hill for starting the program, my father, brother and Coach Ellington for continuing  putting great effort into the program to keep it something special that the community can be proud of. I have a great group of kids to coach and I am fortunate to have a solid group of seniors and upperclassman who are buying in to what we are selling and the results are showing.” Benton said.
