GHSA Sets Regions
Tuesday, 03 December 2013

December 3---As reported earlier on www.southeastgeorgiatoday.com, the GHSA met Tuesday in Thomaston to place schools in their projected regions for the 2014/15 and 2015/16 reclassification period.

Vidalia, Treutlen and Montgomery were for the most part unaffected and will remain in their same regions.

Region 2AA will lose Toombs Co. which moves to AAA next year, Atkinson County which moved to single A and Metter which was placed in Region 3AA with Dublin, E. Laurens, Screven Co. Swainsboro, Jefferson Co. and Harlem. The only addition to 2AA will be Groves High School which is located in Garden City.

In AAA the story is a little different. With the addition of Toombs County and Dodge County, Region 1AAA will  be sub-divided with Toombs County, Tattnall County, Brantley County, Appling County, Pierce County and Dodge County making up Sub Region A.

Beach, Islands, Jenkins, Johnson of Savannah, Savannah High, Savannah Arts and Southeast Bulloch making up Sub Region B.

Schools have until noon on Friday December 13th to appeal for a lateral transfer to a different region. The reclassification committee will hear the appeals on Tuesday December 17th at 9:00 AM in Thomaston and the full Executive Committee will meet on January 14th to ratify the final reclassification plan.
