Crusaders to Host Thomas Jefferson in GISA Final Four
Monday, 18 November 2013
Novermber 18---  Robert Toombs Christian Academy defeated Nathanael Greene Academy in the first round of the GISA State playoffs this past Friday night 49-0 at McLendon Field. The Crusaders started strong with three first quarter touchdowns, and never let up on either side of the ball against the Big Green. RTCA’s second and third string players got very valuable experience against NGA, experience that will hopefully pay off in weeks ahead as the Crusaders get closer to the State Title game.

In a match-up of one and two seeds, the Crusaders will host the Thomas Jefferson Academy Jaguars this Friday, November 22, 2013 for the second round of the GISA playoffs. Thomas Jefferson may have given RTC A problems in years past, but the Jags will have a hard time coming into McLendon Field and making much noise. The Crusaders are one of the best home teams in the state, and will showcase that once again on Friday night.

“They (Thomas Jefferson) run a lot of different sets on offense. They’re not quite as big as they were last year on both lines of scrimmage, but do a good job at getting after it. We are excited about the opportunity,” said Crusader Head Coach Thomas Smith.

The winner between the Crusaders and Jaguars will square off against the winner of Curtis Baptist and Frederica, with the home team yet to be determined. The State Title game will be played in Macon at Mercer University. The top four teams in the state are still in the mix, with a champion to be crowned on November 30th.

The game against Thomas Jefferson starts at 7:30 p.m. this Friday night, so come cheer your Crusaders to victory! If you can’t make the game, be sure to tune in on 101.7, WYUM-FM for the action, or stream it online at https://www.network1sports.com/station/wyum.
