Public Review of Transportation Projects

November 6--  Southeast Georgia residents can see what's on the Georgia Department of Transportation's drawing board for the next four years at a meeting Thursday evening in Statesboro. 

The Georgia Department of Transportation is presenting the Draft FY 2014 - 2017 Statewide Transportation Improvement Program (STIP) in Southeast Georgia for public review and comment.

The pending STIP will specify federally funded transportation projects for non-urban communities in rural Georgia for fiscal years 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2017. These projects include, but are not limited to, new construction, improvements and maintenance for interstate highways, state routes and bridges. Additional projects include bicycle and pedestrian projects, transportation enhancement projects and public transit projects.

The general public is invited to view projects planned for Appling, Bacon, Bulloch, Brantley, Bryan, Charlton, Camden, Candler, Effingham, Evan, Jeff Davis, Long, McIntosh, Montgomery, Pierce, Tattnall, Telfair, Toombs, Wayne and Wheeler Counties. 

The review is from 5-7 p.m. Thursday at 115 North Main Street in Statesboro.

The Draft FY 14-17 STIP will also be available on the internet at www.dot.ga.gov/stip
