Corley Wins Uvalda Mayor's Race

November 5--  A former mayor of Uvalda is going back into office.  Johnny Corley defeated Wade Carpenter, Jr. in Tuesday's election 96 to 80 and will succeed controversial Mayor Paul Bridges in January.

David Adams will fill the unexpired term of Corley on the city council.  Adams beat Emmett Fulford by three votes, 58 to 55.  Tal Dopson, Jr. came in third with 26 votes and Audie Evans fourth with 17 votes.

Three incumbents were re-elected to city council.  Lloyd Moses got 111 votes, Martha Jackson 102 and Jeffrey Dopson 92.  Peggy Avant received 74 and Roger Demmer, Jr. got 26 votes.
