RTCA Wins Big at Crisp Academy
Monday, 04 November 2013
November 3---Robert Toombs Christian Academy defeated Crisp Academy 49-20 on Friday night. The Crusaders traveled well, in the rain, and kept their region title hopes alive. RTCA started fast, scoring on their first six possessions on the night, and never looked back.

The Crusaders were extremely proficient on offense, but the dominating force on the field was their defense. The Crusaders’ defense recovered two fumbles in the second quarter, giving way for RTCA’s prolific offense to score with ease. The Crusaders took a commanding 36-6 lead into the locker room at half time.

The second half started just as the first ended, with RTCA recovering another fumble, giving the Crusaders excellent field position. Herron Gardner’s 27-yard carry set up the 14-yard touchdown pass to put RTCA up 43-6 early in the second half. The Crusaders recovered another fumble on the ensuing drive, capped off with another RTCA score, who now led the game 49-6.

The remainder of the game consisted of Crisp Academy attempting to mount a comeback, but even the Crusaders’ back-ups wouldn’t allow that. CA’s second score of the night came with less than six minutes remaining in the ball game, to still trail 49-13.

The Crusaders held on tight to this win, and fought hard for each other. RTCA hosts Frederica Academy at 7:30 this Friday night, November 8.
