Adams Street Contract Awarded
Friday, 01 November 2013

November 1--  The long-awaited project to repair the bumpiest street in Vidalia should start before the end of the year.

Tuesday the city of Vidalia awarded a $1,537,556.37 contract to McLendon Enterprises to fix drainage problems on Adams Street in addition to upgrading water and sewer lines and resurfacing the heavily travelled street.

City finance director Bill Bedingfield says it's long overdue.

"What we're doing under that road is important.  We have to get that done to take care of the drainage issues and we don't want any resurfacing done where we might have to come back and dig it up," he said.

Most of the cost is being paid for by transportation sale tax collections which local citizens approved for this area.
