Wednesday, 16 October 2013

October 16--  In recognition of National 4-H Week, Toombs County 4-H and Project S.A.F.E. Coaches presented Denton Tapley, 2013 Georgia 4-H Project S.A.F.E. Modified Trap Junior State Champion, with a monogrammed shooters vest.

ImageThe presentation was made by Georgia 4-H Foundation Immediate Past Chair and Middle Judicial Circuit Chief Judge Kathy S. Palmer.

Denton has been a member of the 4-H Modified Trap gun team for two years, but he has been “breaking” clays for many years. Denton brought home State Champion honors at the 4-H State Modified Trap Match at Rock Eagle in May.

His hours of practice paid off as he broke 25 of 25 targets in the first round which advanced him to a second round shoot off. He tied with his opponent in the second round and ended up edging him by one point in the championship round.

Denton is a ninth-grade student at RTCA. He is the son of Vickey Horton Tapley and Denton Tapley.
