Friday, 26 July 2013

July 26—The Vidalia Recreation Department Swim Team competed last week at the GRPA State Swim Meet in Tifton.

“ We took 23 swimmers to the meet on Friday and Saturday and I was real proud of all of them. Everybody that swam turned in at least one personal best. I had a couple of people that swam that made the finals and actually swam a personal best in the finals also so they turned in four personal bests for the weekend.” Coach Rob Hilton said.

“ Our top finisher in an individual event was Ben Everett who finished second in the 13-14 Year Old Boys 50 Freestyle. In team events our 13-14 Year Old Boys placed second in the Medley Relay in the state Ben Everett, Josh Sowell, Colby Purvis and Hunter Poole.” Hilton said.

“ I was real proud of all of our swimmers this year, we had a lot of new swimmers and they worked hard and improved each week. We have a good core of swimmers for a good swim team. Our older boys led the team with picking up points at the state meet they proved the longer you stay with it and you keep trying and make an effort, your efforts will be rewarded.” Hilton stated.
