July 25—The VHS Indians Softball Team is preparing for the upcoming season. The team has been playing a lot of games this summer. The Indians have 7 seniors returning from last years’ “Elite 8 team.”

“ We started the week school got out for summer, we brought the girls in and starting practicing and playing some games. We have really played a lot more games than practice this summer and have found out that is more important to our program. We are able to see what we need to improve on  and go to work on that the next two weeks.” Coach Brad Thompson said.

Image“ We host a camp at the school with our players the first of next week, we started this a few years ago and it is seems to be a good team building activity for the end of the summer. We will also make a trip to the Bethany Home in Vidalia. Our players really enjoy this opportunity to go and spend time with the residents.” Thompson stated.

“ This year we will play an all region schedule. We will play a home and home with each team in the region and that will make up a 16 game schedule. This is a better way to cater to the student athlete and get a better feel on a true region champion.” Thompson said.

The Indians start the season at Atkinson Co on August 9th
