July 3--Vidalia High School's Varsity Cheerleaders recently attended the Universal Cheerleading Association Spirit Camp where several of our team members received honors and awards. Angel Robertson was chosen as Best Top Girl (flyer). Harley Paradice was selected for the Iron Woman Award. Kasie Burton was named All American, was selected for the Leadership Award, and won 3rd in the Jump Contest. Kourtney Owens was named All American, won 1st in the Jump Contest, and was chosen as Best All Around. Emily Martin was named All American. Hannah Kate Wheeler was named All American and received the Best Dancer Award. Grace Cabrol won 2nd place in the Jump Off Contest. Justina McLendon was chosen as Most Improved. And, Amber Lewis was named All American.

Kasie Burton and Kourtney Owens both received the high honor of being selected by UCA for an elite tryout. UCA only chooses 170 instructors out of five states (FL, GA, NC, SC, and VA). Out of Georgia, Kasie and Kourtney were two of 33 chosen for these tryouts. The selection is made based on leadership skills, working well with coaches and instructors, being strongly talented in motions and jumps, being coachable in stunting techniques, and having a passion for cheer.

“ Kasie and Kourtney are outstanding seniors on our Spirit Team .We are very excited and proud of the opportunity for them to tryout for the UCA staff in August. If they should make the staff they will then be invited to do summer camps around the state of Georgia and Tennessee.”  VHS Cheerleading Coach Ann Michele Toole said
