VHS Linemen Attend Camp
Wednesday, 19 June 2013

June 19— ImageThe VHS Football team had 12 offensive linemen attend the Mike Hodges Lineman Camp at Middle Georgia St. College in Cochran. The camp is in its 21st year and helps players work on their fundamentals and technique.

“I took our first and second string offensive linemen to the camp. The camp has 21 stations, three one hour and a half sessions a day so our players had four and a half hours a day of just football technique, no hitting or contact. All of our players did a great job at the camp with some guys getting into the finals competition.” Coach James Ferry said.

“Biggest thing is the wave drill where all 500 players there are divided up into teams of six. There were 84 teams of six and our first team of Josh Eason, Javin Fredrick, Shakeem Lassiter, Daniel Copeland, Julian McCaig and Ivey Kennedy made it into the final eleven. All of our guys did a great job at the drill. We had someone in all of the finals of everything that we competed in, and that made us feel really good. Our kids are great.” Ferry stated.

“ A lot of the drills that were there are things that we already run, so we got a lot of good practice at stuff we already do, combo blocks, pulls, footwork and different reads.” Team Captains Daniel Copeland and Shakeem Lassiter said.
